White Papers

The following white papers have been made available to everyone to explain concepts and integration strategies using solutions provided by Plixer International.

MIB Resources

We have made our archive of SNMP information freely available to the IT community in hopes that sharing this SNMP MIB Resource Directory will encourage the use of open source technologies.

* If you would like to contribute MIBs to our MIB Archives, please send the MIB files to webmaster@plixer.com. All MIBs received will also be imported into our MIB2MRTG search engine.

MRTG Repository

Using MRTG or a another tool, like Denika, that uses the MRTG technology to grab your network data, but having trouble configuring it to work with your hardware? The Plixer MRTG Configuraton Template Archive has an extensive list of MRTG templates that can help save you a lot of time and effort.

Free Network Monitoring Tools

Free tools we use and recommend:

  • Scrutinizer NetFlow Analyzer - A FREE version of Plixer's very own Scrutinizer. Supports unlimited flows on unlimited routers or switches.
  • Denika Performance Trender - Amazing free SNMP trending tool based on MRTG. Keeps things easier than MRTG and provides high level summary reports.
  • Flowalyzer - Test and configure your Cisco NetFlow and sFlow sending devices with Flowalyzer.
  • Getif - A great SNMP MIB browser
  • Qcheck - This is a nifty utility for running response time, throughput and streaming tests.
  • STG - Realtime SNMP graphing utility. You need to know the MIB.
  • TFTP Server - Runs on Microsoft Windows. It includes DHCP and syslog servers
  • FTP Server - Runs on Microsoft Windows. Several other free utilities located here
  • Wireshark - A packet analyzer that runs on Microsoft Windows and UNIX. One of the best values on the web.
  • tcpreplay - Replay packet captures and send them to your NetFlow analyzer.

If you have a great free tool to tell us about, please submit the description and the URL to the tool using our Customer Service Request page.
